"The currency of Bangladesh is Bangladesh Taka (BDT). 100 paisa makes one TK. There have coins in denominations of 25 and 50 paisa as well as in 1 and 5 BDT. Notes are available in 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 500 & 1000 BDT. Now a day Credit cards are becoming popular all over the country. They are generally accepted outside the country’s capital though there are a large number of Dutch Bangla Bank ATMs, Standard Chartered Bank ATMs in Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna, Sylhet, Rajshai, Barisal, Jessore as well as in all the districts, also in the Thanas. There are also various ATMs in Dhaka and Chittagong as well as all the division. Travelers’ checks can be used at most major stores or hotels and should be made out in USD or GBP. They can also be exchanged for cash at Dhaka Airport. If you are planning to shop in some of the smaller towns and villages, it would be advisable that you pay with cash.
If you arrive with an amount larger than $150, you should declare this on arrival and the same applies for when you leave this country. You cannot import or export more than TK100. If you need to reconvert a lot of your money, you can reconvert up to TK500 or up to 25% of the amount you exchanged on your arrival. The Bangladesh Authorities are generally friendly and helpful and will assist you in sorting out any problems with your money. You may visit Bangladesh with comfort feelings about currency."
